An unusual museum in Chattanooga uses a different hook to attract visitors each year.

The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum opened in September 1995 to honor those who have spent their lives helping to remove disabled vehicles from roadways. The photographs of 210 Hall of Fame tow truck driver inductees from around the world grace the walls of the museum, and 25 vintage tow truck wreckers are on display for the public to view.

“Wrecker drivers have always been unsung heroes who don’t get enough credit,” says Frank Thomas, museum manager. “They are the first ones out there to help people get out of the ditch, and they deserve a shrine in their honor. They have one right here in Chattanooga.”
