That’s a Cool House

You may need to look carefully, but hidden in front of Harley-Davidson of Cool Springs, Tenn., just off Mallory Lane, is an 1800s springhouse.

“Mallory Lane was named for the Mallory family that owned property in this part of Tennessee since the 1700s,” says Cool Springs historian Vance Little. “The most famous family is probably Roger Mallory, a Revolutionary War hero who owned the land there the springhouse now stands.”

The springhouse, which had a freshwater spring that ran through it, was used to collect water and store perishable floods since the interior of the house was always cool. The small stone building is scheduled to undergo a renovation in the near future.
