Buttface Beer and Fat Tire
New Belgium Brewing Co. in Fort Collins, Colo., distributes its products, including Fat Tire Ale, to 13 states in the west.
What better way to end a long tough day than with a cold bottle of Buttface beer. Or maybe a Colorado Blonde.
Buttface, Colorado Blonde and Fat Tire are just three of the more than 100 beers and ales brewed and bottled these days in Fort Collins, Colo. It’s not Milwaukee – yet – but Fort Collins is quickly gaining a reputation as a city where quality and tasty beers are produced.
The largest brewery in Fort Collins continues to be Anheuser-Busch, with the Rocky Mountains serving as its backdrop. But the brewery with perhaps the most unusual names for its beers is Big Horn Brewing Co., which produces Buttface Amber Ale.
“Big Horn is actually owned by a parent company called Ram International, so the label on each Buttface shows two rams slamming or butting their heads into one another,” says brewmaster Kirk Lombardi. “The owners took a chance with the name, and it worked. It remains our most popular selling beer.” |
